A: No, this controller doesn't support online games because you couldn't map the buttons. Q: 4. Why my controller inputting both joystick and keyboard buttons? A: What emulator are you using? Difficulty on mapping the buttons depends on the emulator. We recommend using Project 64 on PC, OpenEmu on Mac, Retropie on Respberry Pi. Q: 5. After running a configuration through retroarch, when i connect the controller to my retropie/raspberry pi 2,the pi doesn't detect it.what's wrong? A: You can try powering down and booting back up with the controllers connected. or rebuild retropie. Q: 6. Can you configure the buttons to specific keys? Before I gripe about the little things, I have an n64 controller that works for my emulators for $20 and cannot complain.Works great, only drawback is the joystick spring is not like the original. The original N64 controller has a "progressive rate" spring, where the first 1/2 of movement is lighter than the last 1/2, and some games like Super Smash Brothers rely on this stiffer last half of travel to provide the controls for differentiating up attacks, jumping, and up smash attacks. Aside from this very specific use, the controller does what it needs to do. Can't go wrong for how cheap it is!I bought 4 of these controllers for a retro build on Windows I decided to make. I got these specifically because they were called out in an article that recommended this specific brand for retro software compatibility. And, you know what, they work.Start with the buttons. They feel nearly original. I guess I can tell a bit of a difference from the original controllers. However, some of that could be in my head. I haven't played on an original controller in 2 years. That being said, I can feel a little bit of wobble on the C buttons. That seems like a difference from the OEM. But, it is not bad enough for me to really worry. And, not at this price. The other buttons and D pad are very responsive and work as OEM. I don't detect any wobble in any other buttons. I do think the A and B buttons aren't as rounded at the edges as OEM. But, it's so close it's hard to tell. All buttons response times are very fast. Being wired this should not be a surprise.Stick.The control stick is responsive. At least as much as the OEM. We'll see how well it handles wear and tear over time. But, it feels very tight right now. What I would improve.I think the wires are too short. I added 10 foot USB extensions to this for a total of 16 feet. I mean, if you have 6 feet of cable these days you can't reach your TV. When 64 came out the average distance from the TV when we played was probably 8 feet (with the console sitting in front of the TV). Today the average distance (according to some articles I have read) is about 10. So, you need more cable today than before. You could go wireless. But, a USB extension cable works just fine here. And isn't too expensive.Final thoughts.I think this makes a fine controller for someone building a 64 retro setup. It takes work to map buttons correctly. But, beyond that, this is probably the best way to go to get original feel and play. They are nearly perfect replicas. And, they are about a quarter of the price of one controller when 64 came out.If they are not as durable in time as I think they should be I will simply buy another one if they stay at this price. I think, however, that won't be an issue for a very long time as these appear to be really solidly built.I have been using them for a month of so and they were great. The buttons work well but every now and then the joystick will freeze up. But it goes away quicklyThe controllers work as they should. A little ligher than the original controllers but a good buy.Inexpensive N64 controller. Was able to get it to connect to RetroArch, but I did have to remap a few buttons for it to work correctly like an original N64 controller. Came with a 2nd center joystick which makes me wonder if the primary one will break soon? 1 week into using it and it reminds me of the 1990s.I should start by mentioning that I haven't used a proper N64 controller in years, so I can't judge this on accuracy to the original. What I will say, however, is that I nabbed this to play Banjo Kazooie and that it worked exceptionally well. No major issues. The stick was a bit weird, in that holding it even slightly in a direction would quickly go from 0% to 100%, but I was able to fix that through software. The only other major-ish issue I had is that, for some reason, the casing feels a bit loose. At first, there was no issues, but once I finished Banjo Kazooie, I noticed that the casing wasn't as tight as it was originally. It's not a big issue, mind you, and it's hardly noticeable, but I'd recommend being gentle with this controller just in case. The one issue this controller has that I think might drive away some potential buyers is that, while it does work with the Nintendo Switch, the button layout makes no sense and cannot be remapped. I have no clue why it can't be remapped, but whatever the case, this issue make it impossible to play Super Mario 64 with normal controls. Should be fine with Smash, though, as Smash has it's own in-game mapping. I believe it's also compatible with PS3, but I haven't tested it yet. I've heard, though, that PS3 has the same issue, but I don't know why anyone would use this with their PS3. Not gonna judge if anyone does, though.Whatever the case, those weird button mapping issues could be fixed if there was some sort of software that allowed users to remap the controls manually, similarly to 8bitdo. Don't know for sure if that's even possible for this controller, though. But yeah, this controller is a solid 5-stars from me. It's cheap, it's functional, and it's "comfortable" (It's an N64 controller, so "comfortable" isn't exactly true, per-se). So far, no issues besides the minor ones I've already mentioned. If it starts having any major ssues in a year or two, such as drift or broken buttons, I'll make sure to update this review, but since the controller is so dang cheap it wouldn't be that big an issue. This is an absolutely great controller for Nintendo 64 emulator games, but the joystick is defective. Everything on this controller works except for trying to turn to the bottom right, in which it does not move my characters. I got a replacement and it did the exact same thing. I know that this is a controller problem because I have used multiple other controllers, including Xbox One controller and it worked perfectly fine. Don't spend your money on this unless you can figure out how to fix it. Find another place to get a Nintendo 64 controllerRight C button is mapped to - and up C button mapped to + Start button is mapped to home and d-pad does nothing cant remap anything on switch very disappointed i wanted to play majoras mask on virtual 64 with the right controller but no and I find playing with a switch controller is almost impossible since the C button are mapped to a joystick so if you slightly tilt down when you want right it registers as down, C stick on switch controllers are way too sensitive. Good for emulation on pc since they let you remap everything ??Great product! It's been quite a while since I played with an actual N64 controller, so I'm not 100% able to confirm if it's 100% exactly the same but I'd say pretty close! It's good weight and feels well structuredI didnt feel there was any lag, etc when playing games like Mario Kart or Goldeneye. To me, it felt exactly like the original.Better than the other usb n64 controller that I purchased online but not perfect. Its pretty light and the stick is a little too sensitive but one of the better inexpensive n64 controllers... you should be able to play most games without problem. This controller definitely has the feeling of a 3rd party controller. The plastic has a more rough feel to it and the buttons are easy to tell are knockoffs. The control stick is stiff and after a session of Mario 64, it left my thumb sore for a day. As for the ease of use, it was simple as plugging it in and having it work on an emulator so it's def got that going for it. Overall I'd say this is a good option for PC BUT I will also say that you can buy a 10$ n64 to USB adapter and have it work just aswell while also being able to use a legit Nintendo official controller.Had to restart the computer for it to work but it looks and feels super close to the original! A little little maybe. The buttons and joystick all work great and feel nice.Works on Project64. So much better than the keyboard!Definitely impressed by this controller, especially for the price!
